Holds a degree in Biology and a PhD in Molecular Genetics from the University of Seville, where he completed his doctoral thesis in molecular biology. He later worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) in Madrid (CIB-Margarita Salas) and Granada (EEZ-CSIC), researching microbiology and cell signaling, and at the University Hospital Nuestra Señora de La Candelaria, studying the relationship between renal and cardiovascular disease. He is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of La Laguna in the area of Preventive Medicine and Public Health.
